HaynesPro Test Steps for Fault Codes
When the scan tool gives you fault codes, MechIQ can show you what HaynesPro says about those codes for this exact car: the components HaynesPro links to each code, and for each component its location, its pin table and HaynesPro's own yes/no test steps.
Where it shows. HaynesPro test steps is on the technician's Diagnose screen of every job, in the app and on the technician's web job page. The front desk job page does not show it. If MechIQ cannot reach HaynesPro for your garage, the button is not shown โ nothing else changes.
Look up the codes
- On the job, open Diagnose (in the app: the + button, then Diagnose; on the technician's web job page: Diagnose).
- Keep Fault codes selected and type the codes, for example
P0300 P0171. - Tap HaynesPro test steps.
For each code you get:
- HaynesPro test steps for P0300 -- the code, any other codes HaynesPro gives for the same fault (for example the maker's own number), and what the fault means.
- The components HaynesPro links to that code, in HaynesPro's order. Tap one to open it.
Run diagnosis still builds the AI work plan. When HaynesPro has data for your codes, the AI uses it: it points you to these HaynesPro test steps and does not write its own test procedure.
The component screen
- Where it is -- the location in words, and Show on the car / Close-up for HaynesPro's picture. The component is marked with its code (for example A1).
- HaynesPro test steps -- each test, one step at a time. Read the step, measure, and tap Yes or No. The step shows the meter and the reading it should show (for example multimeter ยท should read 13.2 V). The test ends at the part passed (green) or what to check or replace (red). Start this test again goes back to the first step.
- A component named in a step (for example R3 Fuel pump relay) is a link -- tap it to open that component.
- Pin table -- each pin, where its wire goes, the wire colour and the voltage. Tap a row to open the component at the other end.
- Wiring and connector -- HaynesPro's wiring and connector pictures. Pinch to zoom.
- Parts for this component -- tap Find parts to search your parts catalogue, supplier price lists and history for the part HaynesPro names for this component (its TecDoc part type), ranked for this car. Prices show for the desk only.
Browse engine components opens the full list of the car's engine-management components, with a search box.
When there is nothing to show
- HaynesPro has no data for this on this car -- HaynesPro has nothing for that code or component on this model. Use your own diagnosis.
- This car is not identified in HaynesPro yet -- check the car's details on the vehicle page.
- HaynesPro could not be reached just now -- try again in a moment. If it continues, tell the office.
