Garage accounting software your accountant will actually like

MechIQ runs the workshop side — jobs, parts, labour, invoices — and pushes the books straight to Sage, Xero or QuickBooks. No retyping invoices on a Friday, no VAT surprises, and you see the real margin on every job while it's still on the ramp, not months later in the accounts.

The workshop keeps the facts. Your accounts package keeps the books.

Sage, Xero & QuickBooks push

Finished invoices go to your accounting package automatically — sales invoices, credit notes, and payments recorded against them. Your accountant works where they always have.

VAT applied per line

Labour and parts can carry different VAT rates on the same invoice, applied per line and broken out the way a VAT return needs — not one blanket rate fudged across the lot.

Parts cost on every job

What you paid for parts is recorded against the job that used them, so cost of sales is real — including parts bought specifically for one job versus stock off the shelf.

Supplier invoices, photographed

Photograph a supplier invoice when the van arrives: MechIQ reads the lines, checks them against what you ordered, updates stock, and can post the bill to your accounts package.

Real profit per job

Labour hours actually clocked, parts at what they actually cost, against what you actually invoiced. Margin per job and per technician, visible as you go.

Trade & fleet accounts

Account customers with periodic billing, discounts and account statements — the trade side handled without a spreadsheet on the side.

Garage accounting software reports showing revenue, gross profit, margin and labour efficiency for an independent workshop

Why not just do it all in the accounts package?

Because Sage doesn't know a brake caliper from a cambelt. Accounting packages are built for books, not workshops — they can't plan a job, track a technician's hours against an estimate, or check parts against a supplier delivery. MechIQ owns the operational facts and hands your accounts package clean, final documents. One system for the workshop, one for the books, no double entry between them.

Garage accounting FAQ

Does MechIQ replace Sage, Xero or QuickBooks?+

No — deliberately. MechIQ runs the workshop and pushes invoices, credit notes and payments into the accounting package you already use. Your accountant keeps their tools and their history.

How does VAT work for a garage with parts and labour?+

Each invoice line carries its own VAT rate, so parts and labour can differ on the same invoice and the totals break down by rate band. Rates are configurable per garage for Irish and UK VAT treatments.

Can it handle credit notes and part-refunds?+

Yes — full or partial credit notes against an invoice, exported to your accounting package as negative documents, with account-credit or refund settlement recorded.

What if I don't use any accounting software yet?+

MechIQ still records every invoice and payment, and can export a clean CSV your accountant can work from — you can connect Sage, Xero or QuickBooks whenever you're ready.
